Inspired by the forward-thinking vision of FIRST robotics, Girls of Steel is an all-girls robotics team made up of 64 high school students from 20 different schools and a variety of educational options including traditional public, private, cyber charter and home school.

Founded in 2010, our team is based at the Field Robotics Center at Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) in Pittsburgh, PA.  We are thrilled to be working with CMU Field Robotics Center facilities, faculty, and student mentors.

Our 2010-2011 Rookie Team!
The field of robotics has always been male dominated.  As an all-girls team, also taking part in a male-dominated competition, we hope to establish the team as inspiration to young women entering Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) related occupations and participating in the FIRST events.
